From risk assessment
to the validated machine.

We coordinate every machine safety project through all its stages: risk assessment, conceptual design, detailed engineering, remediation and validation. Engineering is carried out by CMSE-certified specialists or, on large-scale projects, PILZ engineers, always under Fachmann's coordination and management. Each stage can be contracted separately or as a complete project.

Why it matters

Upgrading a machine
is not adding components to it.

Many safety projects start with buying products, before knowing which risk must be reduced and to what safety level. The result is usually an installation that is oversized in some points and insufficient in others, and without the documentation needed to demonstrate compliance in an audit, an inspection or after an accident. The most common deviation in the final stage is verifying that the machine works, but not that it fails safely: every safety function must also be tested against the failure of its components.

How we approach it

We follow the life cycle set by the standards, with Fachmann as the single point of contact.

Risk and requirements

We define the scope and what each function requires.

02 /

Technology

We integrate the right engineering and technology from our partners.

03 /

Verification

Each stage with its deliverable, coordinated with production to minimise downtime.

Service stages

01

Risk assessment

Hazards of the machine or process are identified across all phases of use, including maintenance, cleaning and format changes. Each risk is estimated and evaluated, and the required reduction and its means are defined: design, guards or safety functions.

Deliverable
Risk assessment report
Key standard
ISO 12100
02

Conceptual safety design

Based on the risk assessment, each safety function is defined, along with the performance or integrity level it must achieve and the architecture that enables it.

Deliverable
Safety requirements specification
Key standards
ISO 13849-1IEC 62061
03

Detailed engineering

Devices are selected, the safety level achieved by each function is calculated, safety distances for protective devices are defined, and electrical schematics and safety logic are developed.

Deliverable
PL or SIL calculation, schematics and bill of materials
Key standards
ISO 13849-1ISO 13855
04

Remediation

Modifications are implemented on the existing machine or installation: mounting, wiring, safety logic programming and commissioning, coordinated with production to minimize downtime.

Deliverable
Upgraded installation and as-built documentation
Key standard
IEC 60204-1
05

Validation

Each safety function is tested under normal conditions and against the failure of its components, stopping times and safety distances are verified, and results are documented.
