installation.

OBO BETTERMANN is the German reference in lightning and surge protection and electrical infrastructure. It covers the whole path: from the air terminal on the roof to the earthing in the foundation, and from the panel to the tray carrying every cable. Fachmann Electric is its local partner.

OBO BETTERMANN surge protection devices
01

Surge protection

Arresters staged by where they sit in the installation: they stop lightning current at the service entrance and transients before they reach the equipment.

  • V50 · MCF: Type 1+2 arresters for the service entrance, lightning current up to 100 kA (10/350 µs), with remote signalling on FS versions.
  • V20: Type 2 arresters for sub-distribution, with modules replaceable without tools.
  • VF: Type 3 arresters next to sensitive equipment.
  • PV arresters: for 1000 V DC and complete blocks for 1500 V DC with remote signalling; generator junction boxes with MC4 connectors.
IEC 61643-11 · IEC 61643-31 · Type 1+2 / 2 / 3
External lightning protection
02

External lightning protection

Captures the strike and conducts it to earth without flashing over to the building's structures, equipment or cables.

  • Air terminals · isFang: air termination, including insulated and high-rise terminals.
  • isCon: high-voltage-resistant insulated conductor that keeps the separation distance where there is no room in air. Equivalent to 0.75 m of air, tested at 150 kA and suitable for Ex zones 1/2 and 21/22.
  • Down conductors and supports: round and flat, in galvanised steel, copper, aluminium or stainless steel.
IEC 62305 · IEC 62561-1 · 150 kA
Earthing
03

Earthing

The base of all electrical protection. It is built with the foundation and has to last as long as the building.

  • Electrodes: foundation, ring and strip earth electrodes · stainless steel earth rods.
  • High-alloy stainless steel conductors: no galvanic couple with reinforced concrete and no corrosion underground.
  • VARIO clamps · anti-corrosion tape: connection to foundation rebar and protection of joints above and below ground.
IEC 62561-2 · IEC 62305 · stainless steel
Equipotential bonding
04

Equipotential bonding

Brings all metal parts to the same potential so lightning current does not jump between them.

  • Equipotential bars · BigBar: 5 to 20 connections, copper, tested at 100 kA.
  • Quick connectors and bonding jumpers: for metal structures and PV mounting.
  • EX ISG: isolating spark gap that bridges insulating flanges in Ex areas without defeating cathodic protection. ATEX/IECEx, 100 kA.
IEC 62561-1 · IEC 62561-3 · ATEX / IECEx
Cable trays
05

Cable trays

Route and organise cabling in industry and buildings, from the electrical room to a wind turbine tower.

  • Sheet tray: perforated or unperforated, for medium loads.
  • GR-Magic: wire mesh tray with about 90 % openness, which ventilates cables and avoids oversizing the cross-section. Wings of 35, 55 and 105 mm, widths up to 600 mm, screwless press-fit mounting.
  • Cable ladder: long runs, heavy loads and vertical routes.
IEC 61537 · electro-zinc · hot-dip galvanised · 304 / 316 stainless
Passive fire protection
06

Passive fire protection

Stop fire at cable penetrations and keep circuits running that cannot be switched off during a fire.

  • PYROMIX: firestop mortar for cable penetrations in walls and slabs.
  • PYROPLATE · PYROBAG: boards for large openings and pillows that are removed and refitted when cables are added.
  • PYROSIT NG · PYROPLUG · PYROCOMB · PYROLIQ: foams, putties, intumescent collars and pourable compound for fast sealing.
  • Fire-rated ducts: keep electrical circuits working during a fire.
EN 1366-3 · EI 180 / EI 240 · E30 to E90
Trunking and underfloor systems
07

Trunking and underfloor systems

Bring power and data to the workstation, along walls, across floors or under raised floors.

  • Skirting trunking · minitrunking · panel duct: cable routing on walls and in panels.
  • Floor boxes · service posts: power and data points in floors and worktops.
  • EÜK · OKA · GES · RFT: screed duct, open flush duct, service boxes and routing for raised access floors.
power and data · raised floor
Connection and fastening
08

Connection and fastening

The mechanical base on which all other systems are mounted.

  • Junction boxes · terminal systems
  • Cable fastening in plastic and metal: clips, clamps and anti-vibration fixings.
mounting · anti-vibration
